Questions to Cover When Handing a Millat Tractor to a New Operator

Published 14 September 2026 · Millat Africa

A tractor handover should leave the operator knowing where to find the correct instructions and whom to contact when something is wrong. It should also leave the owner with a record of what was covered. This page is a planning aid for the handover, not a substitute for practical training or the tractor and implement manuals.

Match the handover to the machine

Record the exact model and version, the equipment fitted and the implements the operator is expected to use. Familiarity with another tractor does not remove the need to understand the controls, limits and instructions for this one.

Ask the trainer or qualified supplier representative to identify the correct manuals and explain which matters require supervised practical instruction. Keep a list of questions that remain unanswered rather than marking the handover complete because the tractor has been delivered.

Cover the working routine

The owner and operator should agree how to record:

  • Operating-hour readings and the jobs completed.
  • Checks and maintenance required by the applicable manuals.
  • Defects, warning indications and unusual behaviour needing attention.
  • Changes of implement and confirmation that the combination is approved for use.
  • Who can authorise repairs, parts purchases or a return to service.

Use a dated handover sheet with the names of those involved and references to the documents supplied. Keep training evidence factual: attendance alone is not proof of competence for every attachment or task.

Make the defect-reporting route clear

A useful defect report identifies the machine, the task and what the operator observed. It does not require the operator to guess a failed component. Agree that unresolved safety concerns go to a qualified person and that a checklist never overrides the manufacturer’s operating instructions.

Review the handover when the operator, tractor configuration or principal implement changes. Keeping this record alongside the service file gives the next operator a clearer starting point and makes support enquiries easier to understand.
